How it works
- 1
Find your CCLD license number
Every licensed California daycare provider has a 9-digit license number from the California Department of Social Services. You can find it on your renewal letter or at ccld.dss.ca.gov.
- 2
Search for your license on californiadaycares.com
Type your license number into the search bar. If your listing is already on the site, you'll land on the facility page. If not — and this is common for Small Family Child Care Homes — we'll pull your public CCLD record automatically.
- 3
Verify your identity with Stripe Identity
A one-time $49 claim fee covers government-ID verification. Upload a photo of your driver license, ID card, or passport plus a short selfie. Most claims are approved instantly when your ID matches the CCLD licensee name on file.
- 4
Start managing your listing
Once approved, you can add hours, photos, programs, and a description, respond to family reviews, and (optionally) upgrade to Pacific or Sierra plans for priority placement and analytics.
Why identity verification?
We can't let just anyone claim a listing and post on behalf of a licensed provider — that would harm families and the providers whose names are on the license. Stripe Identity is the same industry-standard verification used by Airbnb, DoorDash, and TurboTax: your ID is encrypted by Stripe, matched against the CCLD licensee name, and never stored on our servers. The whole check takes about 5 minutes.
Frequently asked questions
Why is there a one-time $49 fee?
The fee covers Stripe Identity verification and manual review when the automated name-match needs a second look. It's non-refundable and one-time — not a recurring subscription. Pacific and Sierra monthly plans are separate and optional.
What if I can't find my listing?
Search by your 9-digit CCLD license number. For Small Family Child Care Homes, your listing may not be on the site yet — we pull it directly from public CCLD records as soon as you search. If the import still fails, it likely means the license status is inactive; email support@californiadaycares.com.
What documents does Stripe Identity accept?
A valid U.S. driver license, state ID card, or passport. You will also be asked to take a short selfie that Stripe compares to the ID photo. Your documents are stored and encrypted by Stripe; we only see your verified legal name.
What if the name on my ID is different from the CCLD licensee?
We check whether every part of the CCLD licensee name appears in your Stripe Identity name. If there's a partial match (e.g. a recent legal name change, or a licensee listed under a spouse's name), your claim goes to manual review. Our team reviews within 3 business days.
What about my address and phone number?
For Small Family Child Care Homes, CCLD masks street address and phone from the public record. After you claim, you control what's visible on your listing — your ZIP code is always public (so families in your area can find you), but the exact address and phone default to private and only appear if you explicitly share them.
How long does it take?
Average: 5 minutes. Stripe Identity verification is typically instant; if the licensee name matches, your claim is approved immediately and you can start editing. Manual review (when names partially match) takes up to 3 business days.
Is my payment refundable?
The $49 verification fee is non-refundable. If the licensee name can't be verified after manual review, you keep the right to resubmit with additional documents, or we can reassign the fee to a different facility if you selected the wrong license by mistake — contact support@californiadaycares.com.
