1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you sign in using Google, Apple, or Facebook, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from your chosen provider. We do not receive or store your password.

User-Generated Content: Reviews, messages, child profiles, and facility claims you submit are stored in our database.

Usage Data: We collect anonymous page views and interaction events (e.g., phone clicks, website clicks) to provide facility owners with aggregate analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand site traffic patterns.

Uploaded Files: If you upload photos or documents (e.g., for facility claims or photo galleries), these are stored on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain your account
  • To display your reviews and messages to relevant parties
  • To process facility ownership claims
  • To provide facility owners with aggregate analytics (your personal information is not shared)
  • To send transactional emails (claim decisions, review status, message notifications)
  • To process payments for premium subscriptions via Stripe

2.5 SMS/Text Messaging

When you provide your phone number and opt in to receive text messages from California Daycares, we may send you SMS messages including:

  • Promotional offers for our marketing and digital services
  • Account notifications and updates
  • Appointment and consultation reminders
  • Service announcements

By opting in, you consent to receive recurring automated text messages at the phone number you provided. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier plan.

Your phone number is collected solely for the purpose of sending you the messages described above. We will not sell, rent, or share your phone number with third parties for their marketing purposes.

You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. After opting out, you will receive a one-time confirmation message and no further texts will be sent. You may opt back in at any time by texting START or by updating your preferences in your account settings.

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these cases:

  • Public reviews: Your display name and review content are visible to other users
  • Messages: Shared only between you and the facility owner you're communicating with
  • Service providers: We use Cloudflare (hosting), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), and Google Analytics (traffic analysis)
  • Legal requirements: If required by law or to protect our rights

4. Data from the California Department of Social Services

Facility information displayed on this site (names, addresses, license numbers, inspection reports, complaints) is sourced from the California Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) public Transparency API. This is public data and is not user-generated content.

5. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication (session tokens). We also use Google Analytics cookies to understand site usage. No advertising cookies are used.

6. Data Security

Your data is stored in encrypted databases on Cloudflare's global network. All connections use HTTPS with HSTS. Payment information is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers.

7. Your Rights

You can:

8. Children's Privacy

Our site is intended for parents and facility operators. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Child profiles are created by parents and contain only the information the parent chooses to provide.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page with an updated date.
