What Is a Child Care Center?
Child care centers are licensed facilities that operate in commercial or institutional settings, providing structured care and early education for groups of children. In California, centers must employ qualified teachers with early childhood education (ECE) units and maintain specific teacher-to-child ratios as required by the Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD).
Parents often choose this type of child care for:
- Structured curriculum and daily programming
- Qualified teachers with ECE credentials
- State-mandated teacher-to-child ratios
- Dedicated indoor and outdoor learning spaces
- Regular licensing inspections by CCLD
